Welcome to Cessnas 2 Oshkosh 2012
Greetings Cessnas 2 Oshkosh participants and those interested. It is time to dust off the skills and make plans to attend EAA AirVenture - Oshkosh. again! We are excited about putting together the 7th Annual Cessna Mass Arrival into AirVenture this July. It is a bit of work, but spending the week in the beautiful Wisconsin weather with our friends is more than worth it.

Gil, Craig and RodneyJust a quick update on things at Cessnas 2 Oshkosh and EAA AirVenture - Oshkosh.. At Cessnas 2 Oshkosh, we are continuing our planning and preparation for an enjoyable event as we have in the past. Trying to strike a balance between what is known and comfortable with keeping it "new and challenging" is where we are at presently. If anyone has some ideas about injecting "new and challenging" into our event, please contact us.

We have made a small change to the registration process to streamline planning and reconciliation of flight slots. We are now asking for payment during registration to insure that those interested in participating have a viable slot. This will also aid us in determining shirt and catering requirements and make our event more enjoyable for everyone.

We will be continuing our very popular use of training webinars this year. For those unfamiliar with the concept, you log on to a website and virtually attend the academic training. This gives you a read-ahead of the material and makes the actual clinic more enjoyable. .

EAA President Rod Hightower has appointed Mr. John Carrier to the post of North 40 liaison to directly address any issues that may come up and also to give us, the mass arrival groups, an advocate. We have just initiated contact with Mr. Carrier and are very enthusiastic about his upcoming role. Welcome aboard Mr. Carrier!

All three of us are honored to be able to put this event together for you and are looking forward to seeing everyone in Juneau and Oshkosh.

Blue Skies!!.

P.S. Craig is moving to Arizona during this time, so please cut him a little slack if he doesn't get right back to you. He is looking for some strong backs during the unpacking. Pizza and beer at his new place in Phoenix. RBS
To Fly Our Mass Arrival...
To fly our mass arrival a pilot must register on our website, pay the registration fee at the time of registration, attend at least one of our formation flight training clinics this year, and be present at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau, Wisconsin by 11:00 CDT on Saturday July 21st to participate in the pre-flight briefing.

The registration process is simple. All it takes is a visit to our website, a click on the Registration tab, the first from the right at the top of every page and answering a few questions. Pilots who registered to fly the 2008, 2009, 2010 or 2011 mass arrivals, whether they flew the mass arrival or not, can save time during the registration process by retrieving their information from our database. To do so, follow the link on our registration page and log in using the same email address and zip code entered in the previous year registration. If the email address and zip code match the information in our database, the registration form will be filled with data previously submitted. After making any necessary corrections and answering any new questions, the registration form will be ready for submission.

The final step in the registration process is the fee payment. The registration fee covers the cost of the shirt embroidered with our logo, breakfast and lunch in Juneau, and the BBQ dinner at Cessna Base Camp. We are happy to have kept the registration fee at $50.00 per person. Children up to the age of 12 will not incur a fee. Paypal® handles our payments and the process is simple and intuitive. You can pay using a PayPal® account or any major credit card.
Formation Training Clinics
We are putting the final touches on our clinic schedule for 2012. Every pilot who hosted or led a clinic last year and every pilot who volunteered to host or lead a clinic should receive a message from us within the next two weeks. The message is a call to action and an invitation to participate in an online meeting where guidelines on organizing a clinic will be discussed and the clinic schedule will be firmed up. If you offered to host or lead a clinic and you do not receive this email message from us, please contact any one of us. Our contact information is on the right column under Call for Sponsors.

Apple Valley Airport Clinic March 14, 2010We know that there are obstacles to attend a clinic: conflicting personal or work-related problems, family commitments, the distance to the clinic location and its associated flight expenses, and adverse weather. In order to avoid or minimize the impact of these obstacles on our training clinic schedule, we will have clinics in as many locations as there are lead pilots and hosts willing and able. We will also concentrate the majority of the clinics in the spring and summer months to take advantage of the better weather conditions during these seasons. We're also planning more than one date in some areas and even in some locations. We need you help us in this effort.

Following is a list of locations where we project to have clinics. No definitive dates have been establshed. Definitive dates and locations will be published when they become firm.
Alabama Headland Municipal Airport (0J6)
Arizona Phoenix Goodyear Airport (KGYR)
California Apple Valley Airport (KAPV)
Colorado Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (KFNL)
Iowa Iowa City Municipal Airport (KIOW)
Kansas Clay County Regional Airport (KGPH)
Michigan St. Clair County International Airport (KPHN)
New Jersey Sky Manor Airport (N40)
New York Orange County Airport (KMGJ)
Tennessee Crossville Memorial Airport-Whitson Field (KCSV)
Texas Gillespie County Airport (T82)
West Virginia Eastern WV Regional Airport/Shepherd Field (KMRB)
Wisconsin Waukesha County Airport (KUES)
No matter how much effort we put into planning the clinic schedule, we will still have to deal with unpredictable weather changing for the worse without notice. Clinics will be cancelled when adverse weather conditions are forecasted for the planned date. It is our policy to inform each pilot of such cancellation via email message or telephone call. In that notification an alternate date will be offered. We expect pilots to make every effort to attend rescheduled clinics. Be flexible in your planning. It is important that we accomplish the training of every pilot prior to the meetup in Juneau.
To get the most up to date clinic schedule, visit our website and click on the Clinics tab at the top of every page.

Call for Sponsors
Our Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrival and related events is the "labor of love" of the three of us and a small group of friends who kindly help us along the way. We strive to provide the best events possible. Beyond the time dedicated by our volunteer pilots, relatives and friends, there are increasing costs that must be met in order to have a successful mass arrival and fun week at Cessna Base Camp come July.

Some of the costs involved in putting together our events are covered by the registration fee, but not all. We must seek out contributions from sponsors, mostly prizes to be given away during our annual BBQ Dinner at Cessna Base Camp; and monetary contributions from friends to cover other expenses. With that in mind, we would like to ask for your financial help.

If you are able to help us with any of these matters, please contact us
