A Message From Rodney, Craig and Gil
We first want to say "Thank You" for your overwhelming initial response to our 2011 convocation. In a little over three (3) weeks we had fifty-eight (58) aircraft register for our event. This was significantly more than we had last year, eventhough we were two weeks late getting out of the starting gate. We are well on our way to filling the seventy-five (75) slots that we have been given. So if you know anyone that may be interested, be sure and pass the word before we have to start putting people on the standby list.

We would like to announce that in 2011 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh is "paying forward" the good deed of the Bonanzas to Oshkosh (B2Osh), the organization that between 2005 and 2006 provided us with superior information and mentorship to help us get going in our first year of operation. We have entered into a collaborative agreement with the Cherokees to Oshkosh organization to assist our Cherokee brethren in their training while broadening our training opportunities. How will this affect Cessnas 2 Oshkosh? We will continue to have our scheduled clinics, you just may see a Piper on the ramp and a "P" brand pilot sitting next to you. After evaluating the dynamics, we determined that the Cherokee group could benefit from our training curriculum and experience. We will not have dissimilar aircraft training flights, but we will share the didactic presentation. This way, we will broaden our training opportunities, utilizing each other's experience. We would like to welcome Cherokees to Oshkosh to the community of type group mass arrivals and look forward to seeing them safely on the ground at the North 40.

As we get closer to the event timeline, the dissemination and exchange of information will become more critical. We have added a Twitter® widget to our website to test the effectivenes of this social network exchanging last-minute information between our leadership and the pilot base when time is critical. "Tweets" (Twitter® short messages) proved very helpful keeping those at Juneau informed during last year agonizing wait. Please stay tuned, visit our website and consider signing up and following us on Twitter®.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you at Juneau and Oshkosh!
Final Draft of 2011 FAA - C2O LOA Approved
The final draft of the 2011 Letter of Agreement (LOA) between the FAA and Cessnas 2 Oshkosh has been approved and is ready for signatures. This makes it official, the 2011 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrival into EAA AirVenture - Oshkosh is a "Go".

2011 C2O - FAA Letter of Agreement (LOA)Briefly put, the LOA assigns us the arrival time slot of 14:30 CDT on the 23rd of July 2011. During this time, the Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) airspace is partially closed to other aircraft to allow the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh formation flight arrival unimpeded. In addition, the LOA describes the arrival procedure for each runway at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH).

Each PIC participating in the mass arrival flight must become familiar with these procedures and must also carry the LOA onboard. To download and read the entire text of the LOA, visit our website at www.cessnas2oshkosh.com/training/ or click here.
To Fly Our Mass Arrival...
To fly our mass arrival a pilot must register on our website, pay the registration fee at the time of registration, attend at least one of our formation flight training clinics between March and July of this year and be present at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau, Wisconsin by 11:00 CDT on Saturday July 23rd to participate in the pre-flight briefing. These four requirements are not negotiable. The first seventy-five (75) pilots to meet these requirements will fly the 2011 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrival.

The registration process is simple. All it takes is a visit to our website, a click on the Registration tab, the first from the right at the top of every page and answering a few questions. Pilots who registered to fly the 2008, 2009 or 2010 mass arrivals, whether they flew the mass arrival or not, can save time during the registration process by retrieving their information from our database. To do so, follow the link on our registration page and log in using the same email address and zip code entered in the previous year registration. If the email address and zip code match the information in our database, the registration form will be filled with data previously submitted. After making any necessary corrections and answering any new questions, the registration form will be ready for submission.

The last step in the registration process is the fee payment. The registration fee will cover the cost of the polo shirt with our embroidered logo that each participating pilot and passenger will wear during the arrival, the name tag, the BBQ dinner ticket and the now famous breakfasts at Cessna Base Camp. We have kept the registration fee again at $50.00 per person. Children up to the age of 12 will not incur a fee. Paypal® handles our payments. The process is simple and intuitive. You can use a PayPal® account or any major credit card.
Formation Training Clinics: First Update
Rodney, Dave, Marc and Jim, participants of the 2011 Dothan 1 clinic. Click here to see the full size image. Our first formation training clinic of 2011 concluded successfully on March 19th at Dothan Regional Airport in Dothan, Alabama under the leadership of our Director of Training and Operations, Rodney Swanson. Three (3) pilots, all veterans of previous Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrivals, completed the training requirement to fly this year mass arrival on July 23rd. Congratulations to Dave Williams, Jim Johnson and Marc Finlen. Good job!

The clinic schedule for 2011 has been finalized. The schedule depicted below incorporates the new dates for the clinics postponed as a result of bad weather. We made great efforts to make the schedule as widely spread geographically as our resources permit and scheduling the great majority of the clinics for the mid-spring and early summer months to take advantage of the better seasonal weather conditions for most of the nation. We also planned a rain date for most locations.

No matter how much planning we put into it, weather is unpredictable and can change without notice. A clinic cancellation is in order when adverse weather conditions are in the forecast. It is our policy to inform each pilot of such cancellation via email message or telephone call. In that notification an alternative date will be included. We expect pilots to make every effort to attend the rescheduled clinic. Be flexible and plan accordingly. It is important that we accomplish the training of every pilot prior to the meetup in Juneau.

We need as many of you as possible to help us in this effort. If you are interested in hosting or leading a clinic, please contact our director of training and operations, Rodney Swanson at Rodney@cessnas2oshkosh.com
