Welcome to Cessnas 2 Oshkosh 2011
Welcome to the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh 2011 Mass Arrival! We are pleased to assemble the foremost Cessna Mass Arrival into Oshkosh. 2010 was a memorable year, to say the least. All the pieces were there for a banner arrival, but Mother Nature had other plans. The three of us were worried about a mutiny amongst our participants due to the fact that we had to leave all our aircraft at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau with the good people of Wisconsin Aviation and take mass-transit to Oshkosh.

But from what we saw, everyone had a great time. The 2010 "arrival" was definitely one of our most memorable, even if it did resemble a convoy. So, what have we got planned for 2011, our sixth year of Cessna mass arrivals into Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) for AirVenture - The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration!?

We are true believers in not messing with success and are continuing our collaboration with Cessna Pilots Association and John Frank. We have over the years met some fantastic people and made wonderful friends. This event is a great opportunity to stoke those relationships. But we don't want to stagnate, so we're asking those who are so inclined, to provide some ideas of what you want to see from this event. We want this to be an event that evolves into what you would like.

The Big Tent at Cessna Base Camp as viewed from Perimeter Road in 2009.The Cessnas 2 Oshkosh tent will continue to be the focal point of our presence at Oshkosh and a welcome center for those interested in our event. It looks like our "footprint" at Oshkosh's North 40 will increase with a larger tent. We will have a better general organization on the ground. We will continue to have the annual BBQ along with the daily breakfasts. At Juneau we will again have the dinner on the eve of the arrival, and breakfast and lunch the day of the arrival.

We have approval for 75 aircraft again and we are looking forward to filling those slots, so register early. We know that you will be pleased with what we are putting together and how the event will look in just a few months. We would like to ask that you help spread the word of our event by downloading a couple of flyers and posting them at airports as you travel. Please feel free to contact us with your ideas.

We wish to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped in the organization of this event and make it the success it is.

We would also like to welcome those who are now just getting to know us. We look forward to making this event safe, fun, and enjoyable for you!

Blue Skies,

Rodney Swanson, Craig Chipley and Gil Velez
To Fly Our Mass Arrival...
To fly our mass arrival a pilot must register on our website, pay the registration fee at the time of registration, attend at least one of our formation flight training clinics between March and July of this year and be present at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau, Wisconsin by 11:00 CDT on Saturday July 23rd to participate in the pre-flight briefing. These four requirements are not negotiable. The first seventy-five (75) pilots to meet these requirements will fly the 2011 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrival.

The registration process is simple. All it takes is a visit to our website, a click on the Registration tab, the first from the right at the top of every page and answering a few questions. Pilots who registered to fly the 2008, 2009 or 2010 mass arrivals, whether they flew the mass arrival or not, can save time during the registration process by retrieving their information from our database. To do so, follow the link on our registration page and log in using the same email address and zip code entered in the previous year registration. If the email address and zip code match the information in our database, the registration form will be filled with data previously submitted. After making any necessary corrections and answering any new questions, the registration form will be ready for submission.

The last step in the registration process is the fee payment. The registration fee will cover the cost of the polo shirt with our embroidered logo that each participating pilot and passenger will wear during the arrival, the name tag, the BBQ dinner ticket and the now famous breakfasts at Cessna Base Camp. We have kept the registration fee again at $50.00 per person. Children up to the age of 12 will not incur a fee. Paypal® handles our payments. The process is simple and intuitive. You can use a PayPal® account or any major credit card.

Formation Training Clinics
We are putting the final touches on our clinic schedule for 2011. Every pilot who hosted or led a clinic last year and every pilot who volunteered to host or lead a clinic should have received a message from us within the past two weeks. The message is a call to action and contains guidelines and plans for organizing a clinic. If you offered to host or lead a clinic and you did not receive an email message from us, please contact our director of training and operations, Rodney Swanson at Rodney@cessnas2oshkosh.com.

We know that there are obstacles to attend a clinic, conflicting personal, work-related or family commitments, the distance to the clinic location, the flight expenses involved and weather. In order to avoid or minimize the impact of these obstacles we are making great efforts such as scheduling clinics in as many locations as possible and scheduling the great majority of the clinics for the spring and summer months to take advantage of the better weather conditions for most of the nation. We're also planning two dates for most locations. We need as many of you as possible to step up to the plate and help us in this effort.

No matter how much planning we put into it, weather is unpredictable and can change without notice. A clinic cancellation is in order when adverse weather conditions are in the forecast. It is our policy to inform each pilot of such cancellation via email message or telephone call. In that notification an alternative date will be included. We expect pilots to make every effort to attend the rescheduled clinic. Be flexible and plan accordingly. It is important that we accomplish the training of every pilot prior to the meetup in Juneau.

Following is our current list of scheduled and planned clinics. A "TBD" entry indicates that the date and/or the location is not firm yet.
To get the most up to date schedule of clinics, visit our website and click on the Clinics tab at the top of every page.

Sign up to participate in any of these clinics if you have already registered to fly the mass arrival.
