Congratulations 2014 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh!
The registration process has closed for the season and we are one step closer to our goal: arriving in AirVenture-Oshkosh as a close group of friends and relatives, owners and pilots of Cessna aircraft, who love aviation and our aircraft.

As many of you know, Cessnas 2 Oshkosh is a volunteer organization. We work really hard to make our mass arrival, and the week of celebration that follows at Cessna Base Camp, the premier event of the year for Cessna owners and pilots. In the process we get lots of help from our pilots, their relatives and the many friends we have made over the years. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, money and skills in order to reach this point. But, there is more to do! Starting on Thursday July 24, there will be many chores that need to be completed in order to ensure success. We are asking you to help out in any way you can. To facilitate the recruitment of volunteers, we will be circulating a Volunteer Sign-Up Form. Please find what you can help with and sign your name. We are particularly in need of help with the daily breakfast at Cessna Base Camp on the North 40.

About ten days ago, we sent each registered pilot-in-command an email request to complete our annual Juneau Survey, a very important tool to plan our Juneau and Oshkosh operations. We would like to thank the pilots who have already answered the survey and ask those who have not yet answered it, to please take a minute of your time and complete the survey as soon as possible.

We look forward to meeting all of you who are new to Cessnas 2 Oshkosh and seeing again all the many returning friends.

Let the fun begin!
Final Pre-Arrival Progress Report
At the closure of our registration drive for 2014, sixty-one (61) pilots remained registered to fly the mass arrival. These pilots are bringing with them thirty-eight (38) passengers 12 years and older, and 8 younger children. Twenty (20) of these pilots will be flying the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival for the first time and seventeen (17) of them first registered to fly the mass arrival in 2014. We warmly welcome all of them and their passengers to our group and wish them all a successful mass arrival flight and the most fun during the following week of celebration at Cessna Base Camp and AirVenture. Four (4) pilots and two (2) passengers have withdrawn from participation for different personal reasons. We will miss them and hope that they will join us next year.

Twenty-three (23) states and two (2) Canadian provinces are represented. Texas and Washington lead the states and provinces with eight (8) aircraft each, followed by Virginia with five (5), Florida with four (4), California, Connecticut, Michigan, and North Carolina with three (3), Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Ontario with two (2), and Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Utah, Wisconsin and Alberta with one (1) aircraft.

The Cardinal (C177) leads the models with twenty (20) aircraft, followed by the Skyhawk (C172) with fifteen (15), the Skylane (C182) with thirteen (13), the Centurion (C210) with six (6), the Skywagon (C180/185) with three (3), the Stationair (C206) with two (2) and the C310 with two (2) aircraft.

Needless to say, we are very pleased with these results and would like to express our most sincere thanks to all our pilots, relatives and friends for their support and contribution to the cause. We are proud of our work in 2014.
Before You Head Out To Juneau!
...we want to let you know a few things that will make your arrival and stay easier and more enjoyable. First, when you get to Juneau you'll be only 30 nautical miles away from your goal, with the fun just about to begin! Exciting things will happen and those who participate in the Mass Arrival will have lots of goodies awaiting them. The next thing we want to say is: HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT TO JUNEAU!  Plan ahead, do a thorough preflight and watch out for developing weather and last-minute TFRs.

Our host, Mary Gasper, Wisconsin AviationWisconsin Aviation Airport Manager, leads a very dedicated staff who do absolutely their best to assist us every year. This will be our ninth year at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) and can say without hesitation that the staff at Wisconsin Aviation is the best. Please follow their instructions on the ramp and offer your cooperation in anything you can.

When you arrive in Juneau, PROCEED TO THE FUEL ISLAND AND FUEL YOUR PLANE BEFORE PARKING. Once you fuel your plane and tie down, proceed to the FBO front desk. Mary, or one of her very able staff will direct you upstairs to the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Office where you will receive your personal welcome package. This package will contain a Cessnas 2 Oshkosh logo shirt and a badge for you and each of your registered passengers, the schedule of events at Juneau and Oshkosh, a volunteer sign-up form, several briefing cards and logistic information about the mass arrival flight. This logistic information will be discussed in detail during the mandatory mass arrival preflight briefing starting at 11:00 AM CDT (UTC-5) on Saturday, July 26th. Remember, the brief is MANDATORY!

Dodge County Airport - KUNU
There are some things you need to know about the airport at Juneau. Aircraft parking is at a premium and will be tight. We are expecting over fifty (50) Cessnas 2 Oshkosh aircraft, plus the additional seasonal traffic of transient aircraft that make Dodge County Airport (KUNU) their final fuel stop before hitting RIPON. You need to exercise extreme caution during surface movement operations. Fueling your plane before you park and tie down will help make ground operations safer. When the tiedown area of the main ramp fills up, the overflow tiedown area is the next to be used. Parking in this area is done only with the assistance of Wisconsin Aviation line service personnel. Do not park on grass unless you are being directed by Wisconsin Aviation line service personnel. DO NOT PUSH BACK ONTO THE GRASS!

Following are a series of Google Earth® views of Dodge County Airport showing the ground movement, parking and tiedown areas and the FBO location.

Dodge County Airport Main Ramp Picture 2 depicts a closer view of the main ramp area, camping and overflow areas.

The grass surface between the overflow tiedown and the parking and tiedown areas in the above picture is where we pitch our tents and set camp during the two to three days we spend at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau. A port-a-potty will be available on the east end of the tiedown area and full toilets in the main building. Two showers will be available to all our campers. One is on the second floor of the FBO building and the other is in the main hangar. Bring your own soap and shampoo, this is not a hotel. LOL! That said, there are hotels in Beaver Dam, Watertown and other towns around Juneau. To get to Beaver Dam from the airport, head north on State Highway 26 for about 1.5 miles, turn west onto State Highway 33 and follow that road for 7.5 miles. To get to Watertown, head south on State Highway 26 for about 16 miles. Wisconsin Aviation and Cessnas 2 Oshkosh will provide shuttle service in our vans between Dodge County Airport (KUNU) and the hotels in the area. We only ask that you pitch in to cover the cost of gas. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. For hotel and vehicle rental reservations, Contact Wisconsin Aviation, they will take care of reservations for you at FBO discount rates. Their telephone numbers are (920) 386-2402 and (800) 319-0907.

Our Mission
The Pirep is the official newsletter of Cessnas 2 Oshkosh. Its purpose is to keep all the participants in the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival and our friends informed about our event.
Mass Arrival Route
Every pilot must upload each waypoint of the mass arrival flight route to his/her GPS unit database. They are user waypoints. Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival Flight Route These include the waypoint of the departing runway threshold at Juneau and the arrival runway threshold at Oshkosh. It is extremely important to use waypoints UNU02 and OSH36, not the KUNU and KOSH waypoints in the standard GPS databases.

Don't forget to download the pdf document with the waypoints and enter them into your GPS unit prior to your arrival in Juneau!
