Summer News Update
Are you hot enough? No? Well, hang in there, the official start of summer is just a few days away. As the days get hotter and we enter the final stretch on our way to the 9th Annual Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival, planning gives way to the execution phase as the registration and training activities are wrapping up.

The registration drive has gone very well as the numbers in our Progress Report indicate. We have done better than last year, but there's room for improvement. Our deadline to register for the mass arrival with the guarantee of a shirt awaiting you and your passengers at Juneau has passed. This deadline is set by our vendor in order to guarantee the on-time delivery of the entire group's shirts to Juneau. We will continue to accept registrations, but unfortunately we won't have shirts available for late registrants. Instead, we will place their shirts in back-order to be delivered at a later date.

The training of our participating pilots is also progressing well. As of the date of publication of this issue of The Pirep, eight (8) clinics have been conducted, two (2) had to be suspended on the scheduled day due to adverse weather stranding some of the scheduled participants. One (1) clinic was cancelled ahead of time due to a family emergency of the lead pilot. Forty-two (42) pilots have been endorsed to fly the mass arrival as PIC. but seventeen have not completed the required recurrent training. On this final stretch before the mass arrival, our main goal is to complete the required training of these pilots, and we have to double our efforts in pursuit of this goal.
Progress Report
To date, fifty-nine (59) pilots remain registered to fly the mass arrival. These pilots are bringing with them thirty-eight (38) passengers. Twenty (20) of these pilots will be flying the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival for the first time and fifteen (15) of them first registered to fly the mass arrival in 2014. We warmly welcome all of them and their passengers to our group. Two (2) pilots and their two (2) passengers have withdrawn from participation.

Twenty-one (21) states and two (2) Canadian provinces are represented. Texas and Washington lead the states with eight (8) pilots each, followed by California and Virginia with five (5) each, Connecticut, Florida and Michigan with three (3), Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio and Ontario with two (2) and Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Utah, Wisconsin and British Columbia have one (1) pilot each.

The Cardinal (C177) leads the models with seventeen (17) aircraft, followed by the Skylane (C182) and the Skyhawk (C172) with fourteen (14) aircraft each, the Centurion (C210) with six (6), the Skywagon (C180/185) with four (4), and the Stationair (C205/206/207) and the C310 with two (2) each.

Needless to say, we are very pleased with these results and would like to express our sincere thanks for your support for the 2014 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival.

Call for Sponsors
Every year we face increasing costs that must be met in order to have a successful mass arrival and fun week at Cessna Base Camp in July. Some of the costs are covered by the registration fee, but certainly not all.

We receive monetary contributions from friends and fellow pilots to cover some of our expenses and donations from sponsors in the form of prizes to be given away during our annual BBQ Dinner at Cessna Base Camp. We ask you to consider make a financial contribution.

If you are able to help, please contact us via phone, email or through our website. Our contact information is on our Contact Us page.

Or, you may contribute right now by clicking on the button below:

We are deeply grateful to those who have donated through the years. Your generosity has made it possible to grow and improve this event.

Thanks!
Calendar Change
