Before You Head Out To Juneau!
...we want to let you know a few things that will make your arrival and stay easier and more enjoyable. First of all, we want to say: THANK YOU!  You have worked really hard attending formation training clinics, participating in online webinars and making an extra effort arranging personal, family and work schedules to be able to attend this event. When you get to Juneau, you'll be only 29 nautical miles away from your goal, with the fun just about to begin. Exciting things will happen and those who participate in the Mass Arrival will have lots of goodies awaiting them. The next thing we want to say is: HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT TO JUNEAU!  Watch out for weather and last-minute TFRs. Plan ahead.

Our host at Juneau is Wisconsin Aviation. Airport Manager Mary Casper heads a very talented staff who do absolutely their best to assist us every year. This is our seventh year at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) and the staff at Wisconsin Aviation has always been great.

When you arrive in Juneau, PROCEED TO THE FUEL ISLAND AND FUEL YOUR PLANE BEFORE PARKING. Once you fuel your plane and tie down, proceed to the FBO front desk. Mary or one of her very able staff will direct you upstairs to the "Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Office" where you will receive your personal welcome package. This package will contain a Cessnas 2 Oshkosh logo shirt and a name tag/badge for you and each of your registered passengers, the schedule of events at Juneau and Oshkosh, several briefing cards and logistic information about the mass arrival flight. This logistic information will be discussed in detail during the mandatory mass arrival preflight briefing at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, July 21st. Remember, the brief is MANDATORY!

Dodge County Airport - KUNU
There are some things you need to know about the airport at Juneau. Aircraft parking is at a premium and will be tight. We are expecting over sixty (60) Cessnas 2 Oshkosh aircraft, plus the additional seasonal traffic of transient aircraft that make Dodge County Airport (KUNU) their final fuel stop before hitting RIPON. You need to exercise extreme caution during surface movement operations. Fueling your plane before you park and tie down will help making ground operations safer. When the tiedown area of the main ramp fills up, the overflow tiedown area is the next to be used. Parking in this area is done only with the assistance of Wisconsin Aviation line service personnel. Do not park on grass unless you are being directed by Wisconsin Aviation line service personnel. DO NOT BACK UP ONTO THE GRASS!

The grass surface between the overflow tiedown and the parking and tiedown areas in the above picture is where we set our tents and camp during the two to three days we spend at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau. A port-a-potty will be available at the east end of the tiedown area and full toilets in the main building. Two showers will be available to all our campers. One is on the second floor of the FBO building and the other is in the main hangar. Bring your own soap and shampoo, this is not a hotel. LOL!

As many of you know, Cessnas 2 Oshkosh is a 3-man operation that gets lots of volunteer help from our pilots. During the week starting on Thursday July 19 there are many chores that need to be completed in order to make our event a success. We are asking you to help us out. For that purpose, we will circulate a Volunteer List. Please find what you can help with and sign your name. We need help especially with the daily breakfast at Cessna Base Camp in the North 40.

Finally, each registered pilot in command should have or will shortly receive an email message request to respond to the Juneau Survey, a very important tool in planning the Juneau operation. Please respond to it as soon as you receive it.

We look forward to meeting all of you who are new to Cessnas 2 Oshkosh and to see again all the many returning friends.

Our Mission
The Pirep is the official newsletter of Cessnas 2 Oshkosh. Its purpose is to keep all the participants in the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival and our friends informed about our events. It is published monthly, with additional issues if the need arises.
Final Progress Report
To date, fifty-six (56) pilots have registered to fly the mass arrival. Twenty-one (21) pilots are joining Cessnas 2 Oshkosh for the first time. We warmly welcome them to our group.

Twenty-five (25) states and three (3) Canadian provinces are represented. Texas leads with seven (7) pilots, followed by Connecticut and Virginia with four (4) pilots each, California, Colorado, Florida, Washington and Ontario with three (3) pilots, Arkansas, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio with two (2) pilots each, and Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Alberta and British Columbia with one (1) pilot each.

The Skyhawk (C172) leads the models with sixteen (16) aircraft, followed by the Cardinal (C177) and the Centurion (C210) with eleven (11) each, the Skylane (C182) with nine (9), the Skywagon (C180/185) and the C310 with two (2) each and the C140, the Stationair (C206/207), the Sky Master (C336), the 314 and the 401 with one (1) each.

We are happy with these results and expect another successful mass arrival and a great celebration at Cessna Base Camp in the North 40.

made from 1/2" plywood, about a square foot, to place under the airplane tires when parking in the North 40. You'll be able to pull the airplane out a lot easier when it's time to go, especially when it rains and the ground gets soft.

Arrival Routes
Every pilot must upload each waypoint of the mass arrival flight route to his/her GPS unit database. They are user waypoints. Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mawss Arrival Route These include the waypoint of the departing runway threshold at Juneau and the arrival runway threshold at Oshkosh. It is extremely important to use waypoints UNU02 and OSH36, not the KUNU and KOSH waypoints in the standard GPS databases.

Don't forget to download the pdf document with the waypoints and enter them into your GPS unit prior to your arrival in Juneau!
The C2O - FAA LOA
The 2012 Letter of Agreement (LOA) between the FAA and Cessnas 2 Oshkosh was signed by the parties in April, making the 2012 Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival an official event.

The LOA assigns us the time slot of 14:30 CDT on the 21st of July 2012. During this time, the Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) airspace is partially closed to other aircraft to allow the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh mass arrival unimpeded. The LOA also describes the arrival procedure for each runway at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH).

Each PIC participating in the mass arrival flight must be familiar with these procedures and must carry the LOA onboard. To download and read the entire text of the LOA, visit our website.
