Before You Head Out To Juneau!
...we want to let you know a few things that will make your arrival and stay easier and more enjoyable. First of all, we want to say: Thank You!  You have worked really hard attending formation training clinics, participating in online webinars and making an extra effort arranging personal, family and work schedules to be able to attend this event. When you get to Juneau, you'll be only 29 nautical miles away from your goal and the fun will be about to begin! Exciting things will happen and those who participate in the Mass Arrival will have lots of goodies awaiting them! The next thing we want to say is: Have a safe flight to Juneau!  Watch out for weather and last-minute TFRs, and plan ahead.

Our host at Juneau is Wisconsin Aviation. Their very able staff is headed by Tim Bentheimer and Mary Casper. This is our fifth year at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) and the staff at Wisconsin Aviation has always been a great help.

When you arrive in Juneau, you should immediately proceed to the fuel ramp to fuel your plane, before you park. Once you fuel your plane and park, proceed to the FBO front desk. Tim or Mary will direct you to our "office" where you will receive your personal welcome package. It will contain a C2O logo shirt and a name tag/badge for you and each of your registered passengers, the schedule of events at Juneau and Oshkosh, briefing cards and logistic information about the flight. The logistic information will be discussed in detail during the mandatory mass arrival preflight briefing at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, July 23rd. Remember, the brief is MANDATORY!

Dodge County Airport - KUNU
There are some things you need to know about the airport at Juneau. Aircraft parking can be at a premium and will be tight. We are expecting over sixty (60) Cessnas 2 Oshkosh aircraft in addition to the seasonal increase of transient traffic of many aircraft that make Dodge County Airport (KUNU) their final fuel stop before hitting RIPON. You need to exercise extreme caution during surface movement. Don't forget to fuel your plane before you park. Following are a series of Google Earth® pictures that show the different parking areas and the FBO.

Picture 1 shows a wide view of the Dodge County Airport (KUNU). The dirt road you see to the right is actually now the taxiway we use to reach the departure end of runway 2.

Picture 3 shows the concrete parking and the grass to the North end of the concrete. If parking and setting up camp in the grass area to the North of the concrete. DO NOT BACK YOUR AIRCRAFT INTO THE GRASS! There will be guide persons to assist you in taxiing into and off of the grass area. Please do not taxi into the grass without an FBO guide person.

The area within the red square in the above Picture 3 is where we set our tents and camp during the two to three days we spend at Dodge County Airport (KUNU) in Juneau. A port-a-potty will be available in the area to the right of the picture and full toilets are available in the main building. Two showers will be available for the use of all our campers. One is upstairs in the Wisconsin Aviation building and the other is in the main hangar. Bring your own soap and shampoo, this is not a hotel! LOL.

As many of you know, Cessnas 2 Oshkosh is a 3-man operation with lots of help from volunteer pilots. During the week starting on Thursday July 19, there are many chores that need to be completed in order to make our event a success. We are asking you to help us out. For that reason, we will circulate a Volunteer List. Please find what you can help with and sign your name. We need help especially with the daily breakfast at Cessna Base Camp in the North 40.

We look forward to meeting all of you who are new to Cessnas 2 Oshkosh and to see again all the many returning friends.

Let the fun begin!

Our Mission
The Pirep is the official newsletter of Cessnas 2 Oshkosh. Its purpose is to keep all the participants in the Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Mass Arrival and our friends informed about our progress. It is published monthly, with additional issues published if the need arises.
Progress Report
At the close of our 2010 registration, a total of one-hundred-eleven (111) pilots had registered to fly the mass arrival. Of these, eighty (80) had confirmed their participation, completed the training requirements and remain on our final list. From this point on, only major personal, family or work-related issues, mechanical problems and the weather stand on our way to the most successful mass arrival yet.

Twenty-four (24) states and three (3) Canadian provinces are represented. California leads with twelve (12) aircraft, followed by Colorado with nine (9). Michigan with seven (7) and Texas with six (6). Canada is represented by Ontario with three (3) aircraft, and Alberta and British Columbia with one (1) aircraft each.

Nine (9) different Cessna aircraft models are represented. The Skyhawk (C172) leads the models with twenty-six (26) aircraft, followed by the Centurion (C210) with twenty-three (23) and the Skylane (C182) with sixteen (16).

These results beat our expectations and gave us the confidence to say that this year has been the best year for Cessnas 2 Oshkosh.

We are specially glad that the Centurion owners and pilots responded to our call to join the action. Thank you!

Arrival Routes
Every waypoint in the mass arrival flight routes must be entered into the GPS unit database by the user, they are user waypoints. These include the waypoints of the departing runway threshold at Juneau and the arrival threshold of the runways at Oshkosh.

Don't forget to download the arrival flight waypoints and program your GPS units prior to your arrival in Juneau!
